Last spring, I and Maria Hagström traveled to Brazil and Bolivia. One of the stories was about a center for raped women in Cochabamba, Bolivia. About 1 in five girls were raped in Bolivia, often by a family member or by some close relative. At Brisa Center, they receive children who have been raped. Here they can get help with psychological and legal assistance. They do an incredibly nice work at Brisa Center and despite the traumatic experiences that the children had gone through, there was a positive atmosphere there.

Would highly recommend Thomas Wågström's latest photo book Nackar. A poetic and very beautiful depiction of different nodes. The author Karl Ove Knausgård has written a nice text to the book.

Two years ago, I visited Gustavsberg's Naturist Camping in Nora. It all started with my photo project about bodies. Several of the participants in the project are naturists. One led to the other and soon I had a chance to visit the nudist camp invitated by Leif Bolander (on the picture). I thought the images could be used for my project and defied my fears. Perhaps it's one of the bravestest things I've done. Wearing clothes was not an option, it would have feelt disrespectful. I wanted to play with open cards and meet on the same terms. I remember the first time I took off my clothes and exposed my badnesses. The feeling when I took a deep breath and stepped into the crowded sauna. I stayed for a week and was greeted by an extremely nice community. That week in July 2012 will remain one of my strongest memories.

The 30th of August is the time for the annual photo exhibition Planket in Stockholm. I'm one of the 31 invited photographers this year. I will show pictures from a story that I made together with Maria Hagström in Bolivia this spring. The story is about Emiliana Laura and the Association de Mujeres Artesanas. A craft association for women that started by Emiliana as a consequence of climate change.

This picture I took a couple of years ago. The pigeon had probably crashed into a bridge and probably died immediately. My best friend was with me and we would have a cozy evening together. I asked her to have some patience and ran home to get my camera. Then I placed the pigeon in the forest and photographed it at all possible angles. Like often I went into some sort of photo trance and time went by. Honestly, I do not know what I would have all the pictures for, but something with the bird touched me strongly.

A few years ago I bought the photo book "The place of no roads" by the Finnish photographer Ville Lenkkeri. The book depicts the former Russian / Soviet mining pyramid in Svalbard. Since I bought that book I wanted to visit Svalbard and the Pyramid. Now I've been there and it is one of the most fascinating places I've been to.

Getting to the Pyramid is like visiting a ghost town where only the traces of a bygone era remain. Wither flowers, old clothes, documents and furniture testify that the place once was a living place with school, mining and a vision of a utopian society where no money was spent and where everyone would be treated equally. But reality is as everyone knows not as utopian. The residents of the island did not have the same conditions, the directors did not live as crowded as the families, for example. Today, around 15 people live in the Pyramid. During the summer months, the sun never goes down unlike the winter when the island is covered in compact darkness. I get so curious about the people who live there, how do they survive the winter and how did they end up there? What motivates them to stay? One day I want to go back and find out.

Tonight I took some portraits on dad and me together, using the tripod and the camera self-timer. I'm so proud of my lovely father and have never taken pictures of us together before. Now it is done, although I will continue to terrorize him with my camera. Thankfully he is patient as few.

Tomorrow I will take the evening boat home to town to cover the next issue of Situation Stockholm!

I love the light during late summer when the sun begins to go down and the hard daylight diminishes. Even more beautiful is the early dawn of light in the summer mornings. Unfortunately, I rarely get up on time to capture it. However, I remember an early morning a couple of years ago. I wanted to photograph daddy in the meadow just as the sun began to rise above the horizon. I think the clock was four in the morning. I slept in the little cottage and dad knocked on to wake me up. Then we went out on the highway and walked out on the meadow. The grass was wet from the dew and the air was cool. I asked my dad to take off his shirt to get the pictures I wanted. Then I photographed plenty of film rolls with my taped intermediate format camera. For each picture, it sounded like the camera was breaking. Otherwise, the silence was striking. As the sun rose over the spruce we returned back home.
